To connect Gmail to Subpilot for automatic subscription detection, follow these steps based on the latest platform updates:
Connection Process
- Access Point: Navigate to the "Link your accounts" (or "Link Your Account") screen within the app.
- Provider Selection: Under the "Alternative ways" section, select the "Connect Gmail" option.
- Authorization: A standard "Sign in with Google" OAuth window will open. You must select your Google account and grant the necessary permissions to our secure partner, Nylas.
- Syncing: After authorization, a "Connecting Email..." screen will appear while the system scans for subscription data.
- Confirmation: Once finished, a notification (snackbar) will confirm if subscriptions were found.
Important Troubleshooting Tips for Users
- Manual Adjustments: Because the system identifies subscriptions by scanning email receipts, it may not always capture the exact cost or next payment date. If details are missing, you can manually update the subscription by tapping its card in the feed.
- Interrupted Connections: If the process stops, you may need to return to your mobile browser to complete the Google authorization before the account can finish syncing.
- Privacy: The connection is read-only. The system only looks for billing notices and receipts; it does not access personal conversations or store the full content of your emails.
